I have been gone for a while!

Man, it feels GOOD to be back!

My life has taken soo many turns lately and I have not been able to be dedicated to anything except raising my family.

We have taken time to find our roots with each other and with God. We have started a garden. Oh and a big step here - I am self employed! That's right, no longer do I answer to 'the man'. I have to answer my phone when it rings and push a bunch a paperwork every day. hahaha but it is good! I love it. My husband has a great job and we are making the most of me being able to be at home and with the boys, and building my business.

This is going to be great. I will be working on trying to bring some quality articles to you.

God bless!

Weekly lesson planner

Besides all the amazing things that Donna Young has brought to homeschoolers, I have found another pretty awesome weekly lesson planner page. Free for printing.

A nice one for a little bit more relaxed but structured planning. ( LOL Did that even make sense?)

Blog : The Curriculum Choice

Been getting back into my blogging and catching up with the ones I follow. So I will be sharing with you some today.

This is The Curriculum Choice and in this article she brings together a nice list of all kinds of organization and planning for our homeschool lives! Heck, even some stuff I use around the house not about homeschooling.

Enjoy!!!

Homeschooling all year

I have been approached my many, MANY countless people to talk to me about my choice to homeschool - and my choice to homeschool year round. Well, here is my breakdown. I homeschool year round because it is better for my son. We are able to provide a better schedule for him and we can take breaks when it is convient for our family to do so. Sometimes the fall months are harder for us to maintain school, instead of the hot summers.

We are able to do school 4 days a week instead of 5. We are able to focus on things that he would need more help with.

I am able to take time out with both children and work with them on what they need to get done.

Sometimes it is a chore being around so many people that think that homeschooling is a bad choice. I guess lucky for them that they are not my child...

I will have to say this though, being with my children all the time has brought us closer together but also opens my eyes, as well as my husbands, on what our children really need.

Unsocialized??... Hardly! My kids speak to people with respect. We are getting involved in church and other groups with kids their ages. Sure, it may change how the 'scheduled day' works, but all is well that ends well. The kids have a good time, we as adults get to socialize with other adults that makes all this easier.

I have someone who constantly argues with me about what I am doing, how it is not fair that he does not get a summer break and that he has to do soo much schoolwork. Well, that is what is so great about schooling all year, breaks whenever, load up on work when it is good for us and slow down when we need to. No need to be so crunched when it comes to what we do.

What do you do when you are faced with the adversity of homeschooling?

Question for my readers

I am have a couple questions for the homeschoolers in grades 2 to 5. Thanks in advance for your answers!

When you have your child read books ( like Amelia Bedelia and Junie B. Jones ) do you like to have a guide for the book for your child to help them understand the book and/or be able to follow the book? Now, not just for those books, that was just what popped into my head while writing this.

Do you like to have a quiz at the end of the book?
If yes, do you like it more at multiple choice or short answer??

I am trying to develop a varity of things for not only the kiddos to use and enjoy learning with, but some that I can share with everyone else!

Learning Paradise

I have started a Teacherspayteachers.com store!!!

This is big for me. I spend soo much time putting work into reading my sons books before him and developing either a conversation for after the book or even worksheets to go along with it. I can not spend a lot of money to be able to purchase all kinds of materials and be able to have a big base curriculum...

Anyways, I am getting off topic here....

The work that I put into to get my boys' courses together - you now get to use also!!! I will be slowly but surely uploading everything onto the teacherspayteachers.com site and I will link you to each one every time I put one up - that way you never miss a thing!

Here is my store. There will be free items and items you have to pay for. I am going to be working hard to bring you a little bit of everything that I make for my kiddos.
